CBO: Medicare Advantage enrollment could jump 50% by 2023

Enrollment in Medicare Advantage plans is projected to increase from the current 14 million participants to 21 million in a decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office. The latest projection revises earlier estimates of declining enrollment in the plans, which are funded by the government and operated by insurance companies. "Membership growth has been an integral draw of the Medicare Advantage program," which aids insurers facing lower growth in private-sector plans, said Jennifer Lynch, an analyst at BMO Capital Markets.
