Lease accounting changes unpopular but necessary, IASB chair says

The revised lease accounting proposal issued Thursday will no doubt be unpopular with some preparers, International Accounting Standards Board Chairman Hans Hoogervorst said. In a teleconference with reporters, Hoogervorst and Financial Accounting Standards Board Chairman Leslie Seidman described some of the challenges presented by the project, and when a final lease accounting standard might be approved.
