Monsanto CEO confident on biotech regulatory system despite delays

Monsanto Chairman and CEO Hugh Grant defended the U.S. regulatory system for biotech crops from suggestions that it has become too burdensome and unpredictable. Grant made the comment only days after the Department of Agriculture decided to conduct a complete environmental assessment of the company's herbicide-resistant soybean and cotton. "There's a lot of noise that the system is broken. The reality is the U.S. has over the past decade and a half had a functional system," Grant said.
