U.S. freezes account of bitcoin exchange

The Department of Homeland Security says it has frozen the U.S. account of Mt. Gox, the biggest exchange for bitcoin transactions, because the company transmitted money without obtaining a license. The Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network says firms dealing in virtual currencies must register as a money-services business and follow money-laundering rules.
