Utica Shale oil production fails to meet expectations, agency says

Utica Shale oil production failed to meet expectations in 2012, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. "Oil production will be incidental to gas production in much of the Utica/Point Pleasant play," the department said. Wells in the formation produced 1,742 barrels per day of oil and 35 million cubic feet per day of natural gas in 2012, production data showed.
