House bill would fund research on treatment efficacy, cost

House lawmakers introduced a bill this week to provide additional funding to a federal agency to compare the effectiveness and cost of treatments available for particular conditions. The bill would provide $3 billion for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, with the cost shared by taxpayers, insurers and employers.
