Become a role model to keep employees engaged

Managers who don't take proactive action to keep their employees engaged still might be able to be influential simply by being engaged themselves and offering a model that is, in itself, motivational. Forces that can impede the influence of positive role modeling can include a lack of trust in management and a feeling that compensation is not fair. And managers can gauge the power of those forces by conducting a survey to get input on the level of engagement among staff.
