Detroit schools official opts not to renew 33 principals' contracts

Detroit schools' emergency financial manager, Robert Bobb, said Friday that he fired 33 principals and transferred 37 more; 11 others will retire. The district will conduct a nationwide search to fill 10 positions at the most troubled schools, and all principals will be granted more authority over what happens in their schools.
