AARP report shows price increase in brand-name drugs

A report from AARP shows that prices of brand-name prescription drugs and specialty medicines commonly used by Medicare patients increased nearly 10% for the year that ended in March, while generic-drug prices declined. The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America dismissed the data as "misleading," saying the report excludes "discounts and rebates generally negotiated between drug manufacturers and payers."
