Debt concern drives euro to 4-year low against U.S. dollar

The euro was hit hard in currency trading as fear builds that austerity measures being adopted by governments across Europe will cripple economic growth. The euro fell to its lowest value against the U.S. dollar since April 2006. Trading in the currency-options market indicated that investors expect the euro's fall to continue, with BNP Paribas forecasting parity with the dollar by March.
