NBCT among those selected for mentoring positions in Fla. county

Officials in Florida's Hillsborough County have hired 113 veteran teachers to act as teaching mentors under a new evaluation system that is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The mentors also will help evaluate teachers. In her accepted application to become a mentor, one National Board Certified Teacher wrote about a time she used data to improve teaching. "I was able to look at the scores of my students and discover trends of which concepts were solid already, and which ones proved more challenging," she wrote.
