PNC's previous acquisitions give it a leg up on integration

The banking industry is undergoing a consolidation that often includes some quickly arranged mergers as a result of the market meltdown of 2008. PNC Financial Services Group, however, likely got a jump on its competitors after its acquisition of Riggs National Bank five years ago. "The Riggs experiment gave us the confidence to be bold," said PNC regional president Michael N. Harreld.
