Carload, intermodal volume continue to post gains, says AAR

Carload volume on U.S. railroads increased 0.6% in the week ending May 11 year-on-year, and intermodal activity rose 3.9%, according to the Association of American Railroads. Half of the 10 shipment categories recorded growth, with petroleum and petroleum products surging 50.8%. Combined U.S. traffic for the latest week climbed 2.1%, AAR noted.
