China warns EU of possible retaliation over trade disputes

China warned the EU that there will be "consequences" if it goes ahead with punitive tariffs on Chinese exports of solar products and an anti-dumping investigation into manufacturers of telecommunications equipment. "The abuse of trade remedy measures in a reckless and arbitrary manner will do nothing for solving trade frictions and will severely dampen confidence in economic recovery," said Shen Danyang, a spokesman for China's Ministry of Commerce. China doesn't want a trade war with Europe, he said.
