A weed-busting job that's not for the fainthearted

To remove weeds from the Kensico Reservoir dam, crews from New York City's Department of Environmental Protection will rappel on the face of the 307-foot-high structure to apply herbicide. The invasive plants allow water to seep between the stones, which could wear out the joints and stone face when it freezes, agency officials said.
