Algebra8 is student-friendly approach to math

All eighth-graders in Philadelphia this school year, including those in special-ed classes, are taking Algebra8, a blend of the traditional eighth-grade curriculum with elements of ninth-grade Algebra I. The new program, which uses plastic cubes to teach concepts, will move students who pass an end-of-course proficiency exam directly into Algebra II or geometry in ninth grade.
