Expert: Broad society effort needed to fight childhood diabetes

Fighting diabetes and obesity in children may seem a simple matter of reducing calories and increasing physical activity, but a combined effort from all segments of society is needed to battle the disease, a pediatric diabetes expert said. The effort will involve "some kind of strategy at every level of our lives," including schools, the food industry, the medical system and even religious organizations, the expert said.
