Smalls schools: fix or fad?

Thanks in large part to funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, New York City has enthusiastically embraced small schools as a way of boosting the district's 54% graduation rate. Some critics worry the new schools are too small to provide the broad curriculum they say students need for college or top jobs.
