Elementary schools give up "jack of all trades" model for teachers

Third-, fourth- and fifth-grade teachers in Palm Beach County, Fla., soon will be specializing in one subject, meaning students will have several teachers. In the effort to improve student achievement, officials will decide which subject a teacher is responsible for based on past performance by students on state tests.
