Fla. school would stay open on Good Friday under proposed calendar

Some members of the Hillsborough County, Fla., school board would like to see school closed on religious holidays such as Good Friday, but the proposed calendar would keep schools open that day. Supporters of a nonsecular calendar say that with the high rate of absenteeism among students and staff on religious holidays, the district can't be run safely.
