Baltimore animal advocates report spike in abuse cases

An 8-week-old puppy was beaten to death Saturday by children at a golf course in Baltimore, adding to what animal advocates say is a growing number of animal-abuse incidents reported in the area in recent weeks. The city's Anti-Animal Abuse Task Force has endorsed recommendations to combat abuse, including tougher criminal laws and increased funding for the city's animal-control service.
