Blending limit, excess capacity suppress short-term profits

Excess capacity in the distillation of ethanol is constraining short-term profits for ethanol producers, according to a report by Fitch Ratings. The amount of unused capacity is due to recent capacity increases and limits on production caused by the 10% blending limit for ethanol in gasoline.
