Salazar: Offshore drilling is still a key part of U.S. energy mix

The U.S. still needs offshore drilling to meet its energy needs, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said, his statement coming as lawmakers advanced measures to require oil companies to take added responsibility for spills. The Gulf of Mexico, where the BP oil spill occurred, accounts for about 30% of the country's oil production, he said during a Capitol Hill hearing.
