Wichita airport focuses on bird strikes

Officials at Mid-Continent Airport in Wichita, Kan., are investigating ways to mitigate bird strikes at the airport. Last year, the airport logged a record 34 bird strikes on commercial, cargo and private flights. The airport plants specific types of grasses and trees to discourage birds, but nearby developments often try to attract wildlife.
