Illinois firefighters undergo aircraft fire simulation training

Firefighters in Bloomington, Ill., recently underwent hands-on aircraft fire training in a 50-foot aircraft simulator unit at Central Illinois Regional Airport. The simulated fuselage was engulfed in propane flames to simulate aircraft fires. The simulator unit costs $1.2 million and is funded by the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration.
