Senate votes down GOP drilling bill

GOP legislation to accelerate offshore oil and natural gas drilling was voted down in the Senate on Wednesday. The bill proposed to restart certain offshore lease sales that were canceled after last year's Gulf of Mexico spill and set a deadline for the Department of the Interior to act on offshore-drilling permit applications.
