Tesco CIO McNamara discusses retailer's IT strategy

Mike McNamara, chief information officer at Tesco, said the retail giant is concentrating on improving its technology to drive growth at home and abroad. McNamara is an IT veteran who helped develop Tesco.com in the 1990s and became CIO of the third-largest retailer in the world in January. He said that the extensive IT experience of Tesco's executive board is a definite advantage. "Philip Clarke is, above all, a fantastic retailer more than an IT guy. But I think it is great that we have someone at the top of the organisation who really understands technology and what it can do," McNamara said.
