Why new managers need a helping hand

New managers should get the education and mentoring they need to excel, Wally Bock writes. Unfortunately, too few companies expect their leaders to learn everything they need to know on the job. It takes at least a year for new managers to adjust to their role, and even longer for them to master it, Bock argues. "Training can help structure the learning and mentors can make it more effective," he writes.
