How France battles the bulge

Greg Critser, author of "Fatland: How Americans Became the Fattest People in the World," examines France's approach to its own obesity epidemic. Critser contends that unlike the U.S., France has met the problem head on. In France, there already is a comprehensive set of public health goals, including the training of all school nurses in screening for obesity and its prevention, special care for obese children and "rigorous control of advertisement messages about food products" aimed at children.
