Michigan state school board taps Michael Flanagan

Yesterday, the Michigan Board of Education voted 5-1, with two abstentions, for Michael Flanagan, head of the state's Association of School Administrators, to become the next schools chief. Flanagan, who was Gov. Jennifer Granholm's leading choice, vows to work on ending the achievement gap and promoting teamwork.
