Utah ethnic gap persists on exit exam

Utah officials yesterday briefed the Legislature's Education Interim Committee that while 20% of white and Asian students in the Class of 2006 have flunked the math section of the state exam, more than half of their American Indian, black and Hispanic peers have failed that part of the exit test. Reading and writing scores overall were better, although ethnic gaps remained.
