Luang Prabang, Laos, appears on verge of discovery

Although Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam and much of the rest of Southeast Asia are crawling with tourists, Luang Prabang, an ancient capital of Laos, feels as if it is only now being discovered. The relatively small city, located between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, is a place where tourists can check their e-mail at an Internet cafe and then stroll across a bridge while watching farmers quietly working in lettuce fields, tourists seemingly the farthest thing from their minds.
