School budget, time crunches make field trips a rarity

Field trips to science centers, museums and zoos can help engage students' imaginations, but with shrinking budgets and expanded high-stakes testing, such school visits are becoming more rare, educators say. A once-popular California attraction saw school visits decline by almost half from one school year to the next.
