Brookline footbridge spans Muddy River controversy

The fate of the Carlton Street footbridge in Brookline, Mass., is up in the air as part of the Muddy River restoration project. State environmental officials are demanding the city of Brookline submit a timetable for restoring the rusted bridge built in 1894. However, some residents say the bridge should simply be removed rather than restored.
