CCHIT unveils agenda, final certification requirements for EMRs

The final 2009-10 criteria for determining qualified electronic records for emergency, ambulatory and inpatient settings, as well as standalone digital prescription systems, have received approval from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology. The organization, however, will put inspection efforts on hold until the government issues a draft rule for implementing Medicare and Medicaid incentives tied to EMR adoption, said CCHIT Chairman Dr. Mark Leavitt.
