Construction outlook will remain weak through 2010, says Simonson

Federal stimulus funds will ease the downturn in construction, but they will not revive the industry, said Associated General Contractors of America Chief Economist Ken Simonson. Simonson expects the recession, the longest since the end of World War II, to affect the outlook in the construction industry until at least 2010. He noted that the government must repair the credit system and housing market for the economy to recover.
