Tightening credit threatens farmers

As the end of the planting season draws near, the credit crunch is reaching agricultural lenders, and tightening credit standards are leaving farmers without the capital they need to buy animal feed, equipment, fertilizer and seeds. Bruce Drinkman, a dairy farmer in Wisconsin, recently learned that his line of credit was drastically cut. "My whole lifetime of work could be destroyed," he said.
