COO: Twitter ads need to generate "big, big numbers"

Twitter in the fourth quarter expects to have in place hundreds of clients for its new "Promoted Tweets" program, and this summer will unveil a commercial accounts business, Chief Operating Officer Dick Costolo said. "We were valued at over a billion dollars last September, so we're going to live in a world where we need to be generating hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue," he said. "We're thinking about big, big numbers." However, Costolo did not forecast a date for when the microblog would turn a profit.
