Corps of Engineers lowers level of Florida lake

The Army Corps of Engineers plans to dump millions of gallons of water a day from Lake Okeechobee in Florida. The lake measured 14.64 feet deep on Tuesday, straining the earthen dike holding back the water. However, the polluted lake water is damaging the ecosystems of the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie rivers.
