Ill. school district is using RTI to improve students' reading skills

An Illinois school district is implementing a Response to Intervention program to provide assistance to more young students before they are referred to special education. Beginning in the fall, the elementary school that houses students in pre-kindergarten through second grade will conduct an intensive reading program three mornings a week. The school will test students' progress at the end of the term using online software to determine which students need extra help.
