Los Angeles looks to change water-rationing laws

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has proposed changes in city water-rationing laws. The proposed changes would divide water users into two groups that would water their landscaping on different days. The new regulations are aimed at preventing fluctuations in pressure that can cause pipe ruptures, which are expensive to fix. The current law allows sprinkler use on Mondays and Thursdays for 15 minutes or less per watering station.
