Sen. Dodd abandons compromise on banks' derivatives operations

Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., dropped his proposal to delay a derivatives provision in legislation to overhaul financial regulation, a Senate aide said. Dodd's move leaves in place a measure offered by Sen. Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., that would require banks to spin off their swaps-trading desks to subsidiaries.
