Shell plans safety measures for drilling in Arctic Ocean

Shell Oil Co. outlined additional safety measures for exploratory drilling in the Arctic Ocean in a letter from Shell President Marvin Odum to federal regulators. Shell plans to keep a coffer dam in Alaska and will test its blowout preventer every 7 days instead of every 14 days. "I have complete confidence in the technical integrity of our well plans," wrote Odum.
