How to create service-learning projects run by students

Rosemary Owens, the assistant principal for curriculum at a Florida high school, highlights a literacy-oriented service-learning project inspired by the Aspen Ideas Festival, which she attended with a student in 2009. The project, which the student put into action with peers, has since added an additional focus and been expanded to two other high schools.
