Design-build: One way to achieve LEED rating

The design-build delivery method is one way for construction projects to keep on track for LEED certification, according to experts at a Design-Build Institute of America event in St. Paul, Minn. That's because it tends to increase commitment by the owner and get the construction team on board. However, construction-manager-at-risk and design-bid-build can also work, said Erin Saewert, a project manager with Mortenson Construction. "Regardless of the delivery method, the goal is to get the construction manager and designer on board as soon as possible," Saewert said.
