DOD wants to move $9.6B to Afghanistan funding

The Pentagon wants to move $9.6 billion in this year's funding from research and weapons programs to pay for transportation and other needs for troops in Afghanistan. In its request to Congress for the funding shift, the Defense Department warned that without the extra money, it "runs the risk of an interruption on the flow of supplies, subsistence and mail to deployed warfighters."
