Between March and April, 29 states gained construction jobs, while 32 states and Washington, D.C., lost them. "The industry shows signs of recovering but employment growth continues to be uneven, with some areas seeing stronger gains even as others continue to contract," said Ken Simonson, AGC's chief economist. Hawaii added 3,300 workers, the most in the nation. On the other end was Vermont, which lost 1,700 jobs.
