Free app could boost bowel preparation quality, study says

05/19/2013 | Family Practice News

The Arizona Digestive Health application enhances the bowel preparation quality of patients undergoing colonoscopy, according to a study presented during Digestive Disease Week in Orlando, Fla. The study found that 16 patients who used the app scored better on the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale than 162 smartphone users who did not use the platform. "We believe this app provides an important step in improving patient satisfaction and harnessing technology for better health care outcomes," said Dr. Nilay H. Kavathia of the Carl T. Hayden Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Phoenix.
