Freeport LNG project gains Energy Dept. approval

Freeport LNG's proposal to export liquefied natural gas from a terminal in Texas to non-free trade countries was cleared by the Department of Energy. Critics of the project "have not demonstrated that the requested authorization would be inconsistent with the public interest," the department said. The approval is a "step in the right direction," said Erik Milito, the American Petroleum Institute's upstream director.
