States explore their options for GED exams

A newer, more rigorous GED exam that focuses on college readiness has several states looking for alternative assessments. The nonprofit American Council on Education traditionally has designed the test, but now, other companies such as CTB/McGraw Hill and the Educational Testing Service are creating high-school equivalency exams.
